The 28th April 2011 dawned bright and sunny at Carmel much to the delight of the Carmelites after a spate of dusty days. The students who were in full strength poured in, to join the festivities of the annual school fete. One entered to the aroma of hot sizzling burgers, chicken drumsticks, muffins, brownies and mouth watering Indian delicacies.
The game enthusiasts had the choicest of games to splurge on, from the ever-popular wheel- of –fortune, to darts, basket ball and computer games, all laid out in their spacious basement.
The fete had entertainment galore with face-painting, mehendi, a white elephant stall and a jewellery stall that dazzled the children with trinkets by the number.
The air was filled with music as the dedication stall belted out the latest chartbusters and shout-outs requested by the kids. The most ‘wanna be’ place at the fete was the disco held in the school auditorium. The atmosphere was simply electrifying, as the kids let down their hair to the foot tapping music rendered by the D.J.
The ambience was charged with laughter and camaraderie. It was pure fun, all for a good cause. The proceeds of the fete go towards funding different charitable activities. This yearly event in the school calendar has become vital not only because of the multifarious entertainment it offers but also because it instills in young minds the spirit of charity and service.
